If it is for noon I usually make them after a vegetable dish, and if it is for the night, accompanied by a green salad they are great. This shrimp pie and candied onion was a discovery.
I also like that they can be prepared in advance, then they can be eaten cold or warmed just before serving with an oven below, they are just as good. In addition, the dough of this recipe is very easy to prepare and is at its right point of elasticity, so after stretching it is a simple task.

How to make prawns pie and candied onion

Knead all the dough ingredients until you get a homogeneous mixture (if we do it in Thermomix 1 min/vel 6). We form a ball, remove it to a bowl, cover with a cloth and reserve.
Chop the onion (in Thermomix 10 sec/vel 4). We put it in a pan with butter, oil, and salt and sauté over low heat (in Thermomix 20 min / 120º / vel 1). Meanwhile, we peel the prawns and discard the heads and shells. We add the sugar to the mixture and continue a few more minutes (in Thermomix 4 min / 120º / vel 1). Remove to a bowl and let cool about thirty minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180º and line a baking sheet with baking paper. We divide the dough into two parts. With the roller, we spread one on the table sprinkled with flour and place it on the tray we have prepared. We spread it with cream cheese leaving a 2 cm border.
We spread the onion confit and, above all, the prawns. With the roller, we extend the other mass. Brush the edge of the lower dough with water and place the other extended dough on top. Press the edges and close.
We puncture the surface with a fork several times so that the steam comes out when cooked. Brush with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake about 45 minutes or until the pie is golden brown. Remove from the oven, let warm and serve.
With what to accompany the confit onion pie and prawns
This pie with onion confit and prawns has a very peculiar flavor when mixed with cream cheese. Surely it pleases young and old, as was my case. You can also serve it as an appetizer, cut into small squares on a pretty tray and accompanied with a bottle of good red wine.
